LSU safety Craig Loston has been granted a medical redshirt for the 2009 season, according to LSU coach Les Miles’ twitter feed.
Loston, considered by many to be the top safety recruit in the Class of 2009, only played in two games this past season. He will be considered a redshirt freshman for the 2010 season.
The Houston native graduated from Eisenhower High School and is the cousin of sophomore wide receiver Russell Shepard.
