LSU junior pitcher Anthony Ranaudo will be sidelined for at least another week, LSU coach Paul Mainieri said Monday.
Ranaudo has not pitched since the Tigers’ first game of the season on Feb. 19 against Centenary. Ranaudo pitched five scoreless innings in LSU’s 5-4 victory.
“Although Anthony felt it was much improved, he was still experiencing some of the same symptoms when he threw the ball today,” Mainieri said in a news release. “Therefore, we’re going to wait another week before deciding when he will return. We were hopeful he could pitch this weekend against Kansas, but we’re not going to put him on the mound until he feels 100 percent. We’ll evaluate Anthony’s condition again at this time next week.”
Ranaudo threw Monday for the first time in two weeks and still experienced some pain in his elbow. Doctors have labeled Ranaudo’s injury as a stress reaction.
