LSU sophomore relief pitcher Matty Ott has been named the Louisiana Sportswriters Association’s Pitcher of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.
Ott earned the save in LSU’s 9-7 win against Alabama on Saturday, pitching 1 1/3 innings and retiring all four batters he faced.
The Chalmette native earned the win against the Crimson Tide on Sunday, pitching a career-high seven innings in LSU’s 14-inning, 6-5 victory. In that game, he allowed only two runs on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
LSU faces Northwestern State in back-to-back midweek games this week. The two teams will play in Shreveport this evening and at Alex Box Stadium on Wednesday.
