The 2010 Southeastern Conference tournament is finished for the LSU women’s tennis team.
The No. 8-seeded Lady Tigers fell to No. 1-seeded Florida, 4-0, on Friday morning in the second round in Athens, Ga.
LSU women’s coach Tony Minnis said Florida was simply too tough for the Lady Tigers to beat.
“Florida is a really, really good team and one of the best teams in the country,” Minnis said in a news release. “They played solidly up and down the line and played a great match today.”
LSU lost all three of its singles matches in straight sets.Freshman Kaitlin Burns lost to No. 7 Allie Will, 6-1, 6-1, and senior Nicole Kantor fell to another ranked player, No. 75 Marrit Boonstra, 6-2, 6-1.
Florida clinched the match when Claire Bartlett defeated LSU junior Kylie Adamek, 6-1, 6-0.
