Former LSU pitcher Ben McDonald’s No. 19 will be formally retired Saturday when LSU hosts Alabama at Alex Box Stadium.
The retirement is a part of “Ben McDonald Day,” which will honor the former Golden Spikes Award winner. McDonald finished his LSU career as a two-time All-American with a school-record 373 strikeouts.
McDonald was also inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
McDonald’s number will be displayed on the grandstand fascia of Alex Box Stadium.
Former LSU coach Skip Bertman also had his No. 15 formally retired April 3.
