Adam Schmitt has resigned as LSU’s swimming and diving coach, the Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
Schmitt served as the LSU coach for six seasons, leading the Lady Tigers to two top-20 finishes and the men to one top-25 finish in his tenure.
Both the LSU men and women finished seventh in the 2010 Southeastern Conference Championships in February. The men finished 29th at the 2010 NCAA Swimming Championships, while the women finished 30th.
“I want to thank Adam for his efforts during the time that he spent here as the head coach of our swimming and diving program,” LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said in a news release. “We wish Adam and his family success in any of their future endeavors.”
A search for Schmitt’s replacement will begin “immediately,” according to the release.
