It may not be a reputable or acceptable source for academic research, but a new study shows students flock to Wikipedia for information despite questions of its accuracy.
The study, “How Today’s College Students Use Wikipedia For Course-Related Research,” was conducted at the University of Washington and examines whether students use Wikipedia and the specific ways they use it.
Thirty percent of students said they always used Wikipedia for academic research, while 22 percent said they use it frequently and 23 percent said they use it occasionally. Only 13 percent said they rarely use the site and 9 percent said they never use it.
