BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – The Louisiana Governor’s Mansion is illuminated in red light this week to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women.
First lady Supriya Jindal announced Monday that the mansion is joining other buildings around the country in shining a red light, as part of the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign. It’s the second year the Governor’s Mansion has participated.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Jindal says heart disease kills one woman every minute in America.
