LSU students still have time to submit ticket requests for the LSU men’s basketball game against No. 4 Kentucky on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the PMAC.
The deadline to place orders online is Friday at noon.
Assistant ticket manager Tim Messa said about 900 students reserved tickets as of Wednesday. The normal student section for men’s basketball games consists of 2,500 seats.
Messa said implementing the policy of students reserving seats online is effective for games with high demand from fans other than students. He said just fewer than 11,000 tickets have been sold to the public for the Kentucky game.
“Students historically don’t show up for weekend games in as great a number as they do during the week,” Messa said. “So if we know ahead of time that [the student section will not sell out], we can continue to sell tickets in seats that are normally in the student section.”
Messa said ticket reservations are free for students, and the Kentucky game is the only game this season that the online ordering procedure will be necessary.
“Every student who goes online and reserves a ticket is going to get in and watch the game,” Messa said. “We’re not trying to prevent that. We only want to maximize the number of people who actually attend the game.”
