The Student Activities Board will host Love G.E.A.R.S., an interactive relationship show, tonight in the Union Ballroom from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The show will feature Grant Edmonds, an entertainer and the author of “Love G.E.A.R.S.: A Relationship Tool Book,” as the host. Edmonds, known as a man of many faces, uses a humorous approach to convey a strong message about types of relationships, effective communication and overcoming relationship barriers. The SAB sponsored the program because it can benefit University students with their various relationships in college, said Nadia Maston, Tigers After 10 adviser for the SAB. “Young college students have a difficult time transitioning in their relationships with classmates, teachers and in romantic relationships,” Maston said. “This program will teach students how to improve relationships and improve communication in their relationships.”Maston said some students are more mature than others when it comes to different types of relationships. The program aims to help students have more mature relationships, she said. Edmonds incorporates activities requiring audience involvement into the program, so it’s not simply lecture-based. Edmonds won second place for the 2009 Novelty Show of the Year for the Love G.E.A.R.S. program. “Love G.E.A.R.S. is important for University students, especially if they are not familiar with the culture,” Maston said. “Relationships change in different cultures, and some students may need help with this transition.”A surprise musical guest will perform following Love G.E.A.R.S. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend, and the event is free of charge.____Contact Sabrina Trahan at [email protected]
