Students have until noon today to vote for their favorite video in the Forever LSU video contest.Forever LSU asked students to create homemade videos last fall for a contest promoting the importance of private funding and student involvement.
In November, a group of students, along with a judges panel, selected three of their favorite entries.
Emmy Award-winning alumnus Robert Zimmerman helped the three final teams revamp their videos, said Scott Madere, public relations director for Forever LSU.
“He helped them refine their products,” Madere said. “What you’re seeing is a much more polished version of what you saw in November.”
Now it’s up for the student body to choose the winner.
Students can log on to their PAWS accounts to vote between “Fightin’ Tiger Rap,” “LSU is… Forever” or “Forever and Ever and Ever Rap.”
Caitlin Cleveland created “Fightin’ Tiger Rap.” Elizabeth Scott and Leah Stevens created “LSU is… Forever.” Mac Alsfeld, Brandon Hicks and Jay Grisoli created “Forever and Ever and Ever Rap.”
It’s important to have students involved in the campaign process, Madere said.
“We want students to know the campaign is something they’re a part of, too,” Madere said. “They are the ones that make the incredible things at LSU happen.”
Madere said students were told to create a video with an entertaining message reflecting the University’s core values with viral capacity.
“Our job is to try to educate the community on what their role is in the future of LSU,” Madere said. “As the years go by, we will need to put more emphasis on private funding.”
The winning video will be unveiled at the LSU- Kentucky men’s basketball game Saturday.
Madere said the winner will receive a new Apple laptop computer equipped with video software, as well as an all-access parking pass on campus.——Contact Sarah Eddington at [email protected]
