PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) — Port Allen officials are gearing up for as many as 100,000 people to descend on the city for Saturday’s 1 p.m. parade in honor of the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl XLIV victory in Miami.
Police Chief Fred Smith tells The Advocate that West Baton Rouge natives and Saints cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Randall Gay, will be the honored guests.
Smith says state troopers and law enforcement officers from East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville and Pointe Coupee parishes will help keep the operation running smoothly.
Sharon Stam, executive director of the West Baton Rouge Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau, said after the parade, the city will host a ceremony for Porter and Gay with live music and a fireworks display on the levee near city hall.
