The No. 32 Rice Owls thrashed the No. 33 LSU men’s tennis team, 6-1, at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston on Friday.
Freshman James Turbervill recorded a singles win against Rice’s John Chang in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2.
But the remaining five Tigers were finished in straight sets in singles.
The Owls went on to take two of three matches in doubles.
LSU freshman Roger Anderson and sophomore Neal Skupski won their doubles match, 8-3.
The tandem of junior Sebastian Carlsson and freshman Stefan Szacinski lost, 8-5, while freshman Olivier Borsos and Turbervill fell in a tight match, 9-7.
It’s the third-straight loss for the Tigers since the ITA Kickoff Weekend where the Tigers fell to No. 13 Florida State and No. 19 Louisville.
