As the first of two “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” films started, everyone in the audience, including the loud children I was surrounded by, was silent. We all knew from the start this was a very serious movie.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1” tells the first part of the epic finale by J.K. Rowling. This has to be the best interpretation of the book so far, with very few parts of the actual book missing from the plot of the movie. Other than a couple of minor tweaks, most notably in the first 20 minutes when Harry Potter is discovered with Hagrid traveling to the Weasley House, the film stays true to Rowling’s text.
As the movie progressed, I felt I was reliving my teenage years, when I would reread the series for hours on end. Never have I ever felt more proud to be a Potter fan. From its elaborate sets to its special effects, the movie does not overdo any aspect. The actors all play their characters superbly, while the score and soundtrack sound amazing against the action on the screen.
Though in the book, there is lots of sitting around and planning, the movie does a great job of not boring the audience. Other than a couple of plot/text mismatches, the movie was one of the best “Harry Potter” reenactments so far. Everything about the movie was positive, except having to wait eight months for the next part.
Watching the first part of the last book has built my anticipation immensely, making me wish July 15, 2011, will come faster, when “Part 2” is released.
