The LSU football team is already reaping the benefits of its biggest win of the season.
LSU (8-1, 5-1 SEC) has moved up to No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 polls. The Tigers were No. 11 in the previous poll.
LSU beat Alabama, 24-21, in thrilling fashion Saturday. Alabama was No. 5 in the USA Today poll last week but fell to No. 12 in this week’s poll.
Oregon and Auburn remained Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the poll. Boise State and Wisconsin round out the top five.
The Associated Press rankings saw the Tigers jump to No. 5 behind Oregon, Auburn, TCU and Boise State, respectively.
The Crimson Tide fell to No. 11 in the AP poll.
The BCS rankings will be released later today.
