LSU football coach Les Miles said junior right guard Will Blackwell will return to the field Saturday against Ole Miss after he suffered a broken ankle in LSU’s season opener against North Carolina.
“Will Blackwell will play in this game,” Miles said at his weekly media luncheon Monday. “The bones grew together extremely well. There is little or no pain, and the opportunity for a guy to heal fast has happened, and how wonderful. We’ll have to get some of the cobwebs knocked off him, but then he’ll be ready to play.”
Miles also said sophomore right tackle Alex Hurst should return to action after missing the ULM game with a right leg injury.
“Hurst is much improved,” Miles said. “He’s taken strides. Hurst and Blackwell, we would like to think that both will play in this game.”
LSU faces Ole Miss on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. The game will be televised on CBS.
