The LSU women’s tennis team will play 13 matches at home in the spring 2011 season and open the season at the Virginia Winter Invitational from Jan. 15-17, as women’s tennis coach Tony Minnis announced the team’s spring schedule Wednesday.
The home season begins with a doubleheader Feb. 2 when the Lady Tigers host Texas Tech at noon and Prairie View A&M in the nightcap at 5 p.m.
Other non-conference home matches include Oklahoma State on Feb. 25, Iowa on March 16 and Colorado on March 23.
SEC play kicks off March 4 at home against Florida followed by South Carolina at home March 6. LSU will also host SEC opponents Georgia, Vanderbilt and Kentucky while traveling to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas.
“Every year we try to play one of the top schedules in the country, and this year is no different,” Minnis said in a news release. “We have lots of great home matches and some tough road matches as well, which will prepare us for post-season play. It should be very exciting.”
