A gray Mazda 3 was totaled on Burbank Drive after it was involved in an accident with a white Dodge Ram at 7:40 p.m. Thursday.
The Mazda, driven by William Lancaster, turned right out of Burbank Commons and pulled into the path of the truck, said Trooper First Class Daryl Davis, Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman.
Davis said the pickup hit Lancaster’s car on the front driver’s side, causing it to rotate clockwise off the side of the road.
At the same time, Lancaster crossed over all lanes of traffic and landed on the side of the road, Davis said.
Lancaster was cited for failure to yield from the side of the driveway, Davis said.
Excessive speed was not a cause of the accident, Davis said.
The Mazda was towed away from the scene, Davis said.
Davis did not identify the driver of the pickup truck.
