A convicted robber escaped authorities this morning as he was being escorted to the downtown Baton Rouge courthouse for sentencing.
The man, Demond Cook, 34, was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and one count of kidnapping Sept. 9.
Local schools were put on lockdown as a precaution, and authorities were calling to warn people who live within two miles of the courthouse.
