Student Government President J Hudson has responded to a Facebook post by Gov. Bobby Jindal, countering the governor’s statement that “our universities are delivering less value than you deserve.”
“I believe that they are incorrect when they state all universities are delivering less value than the students deserve,” Hudson wrote to Jindal.
Hudson called the University a “superior institution,” but said honors like the University’s placement as a Tier One institution is endangered by the 32 percent budget cut that may be implemented this fall.
Hudson also asked the governor to create a plan that outlines the University’s financial future.
In the original post, Jindal asked Louisiana higher education students to give him feedback about their suggestions on how to handle the cuts.
“I know there is a lot of discussion about budget cuts and many of you have strong opinions about how much money the state should be spending on your campus,” Jindal wrote. “I am happy to hear your thoughts on that, but I would ask that you would also take the time to think more deeply about your college experience and share with me your thoughts on how we can save money, and improve your educational experience.”
