The University’s midyear cut is bigger than was projected last Thursday, more than doubling from $2.2 million to $5.1 million, according to Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Jack Hamilton.
The additional $2.7 million came from $7.3 million taken from cuts to non-academic institutions, Hamilton said.
The funds were dispersed among all of the system entities, Hamilton said.
The cuts were dispersed because PBRC, the AgCenter and the three hospitals do not qualify as teaching or higher education units, LSU System President John Lombardi said in an e-mail sent to LSU System chancellors and obtained by The Daily Reveille.
