Ole Miss has chosen its new mascot to replace Colonel Reb – a Rebel Black Bear.
 
The bear won a campus-wide contest to select a new mascot after Colonel Reb was banned from the sideline for being too reminiscent of the Old South.
 
The other choices Ole Miss students could vote for were a land shark and a student character known as “Hotty Toddy” – after the school’s famous cheer.
 
The Rebels come to Baton Rouge to face LSU on Nov. 20.
