Freshman goalkeeper Megan Kinneman was named SEC Freshman of the Week after beginning the weekend with a shutout against Alabama, 0-0, and leading LSU to a 2-1 win against Auburn on Sunday.
Kinneman, a native of Missouri City, Texas, has allowed just three goals in five games since receiving her first career start against McNeese St. Two of the the three goals she has allowed this season have come on penalty kicks, including Sunday against Auburn.
Her shutout Friday marked just the second time this season Western Division leader Alabama has been held scoreless. Kinneman is the first Tiger to be named Freshman of the Week since since forward Addie Eggleston on Aug. 25, 2010. Junior goalkeeper Mo Isom received the award twice during the 2008 season. —-
