Baton Rouge Police Chief Jeff LeDuff is going to retire, according to a letter from the Mayor’s Office.
The letter, which was sent from East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden to the Baton Rouge Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board, says LeDuff will step down by Dec. 31. A reason was not given for LeDuff’s retirement.
Holden asked the Baton Rouge Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board to create a “civil service examination” for the new chief. An official from the Mayor’s Office says the board will coordinate the hiring process.
