Saturday, Sept. 18 isn’t just the Tiger’s first homegame — it’s also “Elemore Morgan Jr. Day.”
Gov. Bobby Jindal and the Louisiana Senate named Sept. 18 a day to honor Morgan’s “significant contribution to arts and arts education in Louisiana,” according to a University news release.
A reception and book signing will be held at the LSU Museum of Art in the Shaw Center for the Arts at 2 p.m. Mary Morgan, Elemore’s window, will sign copies of her husband’s art collections.
LSU MOA, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, Ann Connelly Gallery and Performing Arts Society of Acadiana are co-hosting the reception.
“Drawn to the Stage,” a recently released book of Morgan’s work, “reflects the generosity of spirit that characterized Morgan’s artistry and his leadership of the arts community in south Louisiana,” according to the release.
