LSU System President John Lombardi said Friday that Tim Ryan’s ouster as University of New Orleans chancellor was not to make UNO a branch of LSU-Baton Rouge.
Ryan said at a news conference Thursday that he was fired because he “would not let UNO be run as a branch campus of LSU-Baton Rouge.”
“Anyone who imagines this as a branch of another campus is deaf, dumb and blind,” Lombardi said during a news conference on UNO’s campus Friday, according to The Times-Picayune.
Lombardi, who fired Ryan on Thursday, will serve as interim UNO chancellor while maintaining his duties of System President. The LSU System will soon launch a national search for Ryan’s permanent replacement.
