University employee arrested for outstanding warrants
The LSU Police Department assisted the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office in arresting a University employee Sept. 13 at The 5 for three outstanding warrants.
Officers arrested Shamon Sims, 30, of 999 Rosenwald Road, for outstanding warrants for speeding, lack of insurance and failing to appear in juvenile court, said Sgt. Jason Bettencourtt, LSUPD spokesperson.
Sims was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Students arrested for spraying fire extinguisher in residence halls
LSUPD officers arrested two students Sept. 11 for criminal mischief.
Officers were dispatched to Herget Hall around 3 a.m. in response to a possible fire. After speaking with students, they questioned James Murray, 18, of 23 Swallow St., New Orleans, and Wayne Zeringue, 18, of 160 East Oakridge Ave., Metairie. Zeringue and Murray admitted to spraying the second floor with a fire extinguisher, Bettencourtt said.
Both students were issued misdemeanor summonses and released.

Man arrested for possession of two bags of crack cocaineOfficers arrested a 45-year-old man unaffiliated with the University on Sept. 7 for cocaine possession.
Police were patrolling North Stadium and Nicholson drives at around 2 a.m. when they saw Darryl Branch, of 2069 Kentucky St., riding his bicycle near several parked cars and looking inside, Bettencourtt said.
Police questioned Branch in the Alex Box Stadium parking lot where they searched him and found two small bags of crack cocaine, Bettencourtt said. Branch was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Student arrested for attempting to break into MDA building
Police arrested a 21-year-old University student Sept. 2 for criminal trespassing.
Officers found Joshua McDonald, of 160 Burgan Ave., trying to break into the Music & Dramatic Arts building around 1 a.m. using security cameras, Bettencourtt said.
McDonald told officers he was trying to enter the building after hours to practice because it was a common thing for students to do, Bettencourtt said.
McDonald was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.

Six students arrested for breaking elevator lights
Officers arrested six students Sept. 9 for simple criminal damage to property.
Using security cameras, officers found six students breaking two lights in a Herget Hall elevator, Bettencourtt said.
The students were Matthew Tanner, 18, of 449 Choctaw Drive, Abita Springs; Jeffrey Pearce, 18, of 18297 Derbes Drive, Covington; Conor Regan, 18, of 6844 Avalon Ave., Dallas; John Lapoint, 18, of 6575 Morgan Shores Road, Lake Arthur; Collin Simar, 18, of 3261 Empire Road, Jennings, and Christian Peters, 18, of 5609 Avron Blvd., Metairie.
All were issued misdemeanor summonses and released.

Man arrested for three counts of domestic abuse and battery
Officers arrested a 39-year-old man unaffiliated with the University on Sept. 8 for three counts of domestic abuse and battery.
Police responded to a complaint around 9 p.m. from a woman in Edward Gay Apartments who said her husband, Roderick Randolph, of 375 West Roosevelt St., Apartment 2240, had physically abused her, Bettencourtt said.
The woman said Randolph grabbed her hair and shook her during a fight and in the same day pulled her out of bed by her hair and onto the floor, Bettencourtt said. When she asked for the keys to the car, Randolph refused, so she called the police.
Randolph was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Three students arrested for battery, disturbing the peace
Officers arrested three students Sept. 7 after responding to a fight between roommates in Herget Hall.
Police arrested John Lapoint, 18, of 6575 Morgan Shores Road, Lake Arthur, for simple battery and James Benham, 18, of 5123 Woodlake Drive, for second-degree battery at 2:33 a.m. after punching their roommate in the face, Bettencourtt said.
Lapoint and Benham told officers their roommate Conor Regan, 18, of 6844 Avalon Ave., Dallas, had entered the room acting belligerent, which led to the fight, Bettencourtt said.
Regan was issued a misdemeanor summons for simple assault and disturbing the peace by public intoxication. Lapoint and Benham were booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Student arrested for underage alcohol possession
Officers arrested student Ivan Brackett, 19, of 3235 Highland Road, for underage alcohol possession Sept. 10.
Officers saw Brackett walking near the Student Health Center around 2 a.m. while trying to hide a plastic Sprite bottle filled with rum, Bettencourtt said. Brackett was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.

Woman arrested for careless driving, DWI
Officers arrested 21-year-old Jessica Duggan, unaffiliated with the University, of 2310 Live Oak Drive, Brusly, on Sept. 12 for carless driving and DWI.
Police responded to a crash around 1 a.m. at Gourrier Avenue and Burbank Drive, where they found Duggan, who smelled strongly of alcohol, Bettencourtt said.
Duggan had a BAC of 0.181 grams percent, Bettencourtt said. She was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
