I am confident that I’m not alone when I say that I was appalled at the inefficiency of the contraflow after the game on Saturday. Several streets had been blocked off, which seemed to make the situation worse than if people were free to exit campus however they chose. Tower Drive and Highland Road were blocked, so my only choice, based on where I had parked, was to travel down South Campus Drive. I was then re-routed in a circle between South Campus Drive, West Lakeshore, and Campus Lake Road (the parking lot connecting Miller, Herget, and McVoy dormitories). Traffic was worse than slow… it was stopped for at least an hour!
I understand that it is difficult to manage so many cars on campus. I don’t mind sitting in traffic as long as it’s MOVING and the police do not send me right back to where I started in the first place. I called the LSU Police Department, EBR Police Department, and Athletic Office to file a complaint, only to be referred elsewhere. I have tried to take appropriate measures to address the problem, but no one seems to want to take responsibility for this mess. If anyone who is
reading this is in a position to change the contraflow system, please help!
