Ole Miss quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has been restricted by the NCAA from playing football for the Rebels, according to an Ole Miss news release. Ole Miss will appeal the decision to an NCAA subcommittee. Results of the appeal are expected to be released Friday at the earliest. Masoli wouldn’t be eligible to play until 2011 under the current ruling. The former Oregon quarterback transferred to Ole Miss when he was dismissed from the Ducks after a burglary charge. Masoli was seeking a waiver of the NCAA’s transfer rule. The 5-foot-11-inch, 220-pound quarterback started two years for Oregon, throwing for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2009. —-
