NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The tatters of Tropical Depression 5 are back in Louisiana, bringing flash flood watches to much of Louisiana.
National Weather Service meteorologist Christopher Bannan says the slow-moving low was north of Baton Rouge by Tuesday afternoon.
A flash flood watch extended as far southwest as Avoyelles, Evangeline, Acadia and Vermilion parishes, and as far northeast as Madison Parish.
The weather service says the system is expected to dump three to five inches of rain in the southeast and torrential downpours of 2 to 3 inches in a short time farther north on Wednesday, with locally higher amounts.
It says the threat for heavy rain was expected to end by Thursday, as the system weakens and moves into Mississippi.
