Louisiana casino revenues in December rose from the month before, but were down approximately 16 percent from the same time last year. Revenue for riverboat casinos was about $131 million in Dec. 2009, while the Dec. 2008 total was about $153 million. Last year was also a better year on the whole: 2008 total revenue was $881 million, while 2009’s total was $812 million. Wade Duty, executive director of the Louisiana Casino Assocation, said the slip in 2009 is because Louisiana wasn’t yet feeling the effects of the recession in late 2008. ‘The impact of the recession was late in reaching Louisiana,’ Duty said.
