The soon-to-be completed basketball practice facility has been hit with a setback, according to Eddie Nunez, associate athletics director of operations and project development.
Nunez said pipes of an air conditioning unit malfunctioned a week and a half ago putting four to six inches of water throughout the entire facility and delaying the completion of construction until as late as mid-March.
Both of the new gym floors will have to be replaced due to the damage from the water, Nunez said.
‘The good thing is the company that installed the court has already removed the old court and is getting set to put the new court on it,’ Nunez said. ‘The process is much faster during basketball season because the company has a little more flexibility to do this because it’s their downtime.’
