The University kicked off the celebration for its sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary, today with a launch event at Memorial Tower.
Featuring speakers Chancellor Michael Martin, Student Government President Stuart Watkins, former U.S. Congressman W. Henson Moore III and University alumnus Perry J. Franklin Sr., the event was the beginning of a year’s worth of events to celebrate the past 150 years of University history and look toward the future.
The event also featured performances by the LSU Brass Band and a birthday cake for the University.
‘We’re here to celebrate not the past, but celebrate the future and recognize the past got us here,’ Martin said.
