Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin has been hired by Southern California to fill the same position, according to ESPN.com.
Kiffin would replace Pete Carroll, who was recently hired by the Seattle Seahawks as their head coach.
Kiffin was an assistant at USC from 2001-06, serving as wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator in his tenure there until becoming the Oakland Raiders head coach in 2007.
ESPN is also reporting that Kiffin would bring defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, his father, and assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron with him to USC. Orgeron was the head coach at Ole Miss from 2005-07.
ESPN reports that wide receivers coach Kippy Brown would take over as interim head coach for Kiffin.
