Saints coach Sean Payton has been named the Sporting News 2009 Coach of the Year.
Payton won the honor with 26 votes, while Colts coach Jim Caldwell finished second with 13 votes. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis finished third with 10 votes.
The Saints went 13-3 and won their second NFC South division title in four years under Payton. New Orelans also garnered the No. 1 playoff seed in the NFC and will host Arizona on Saturday in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams finished third in the voting for Sporting News Coordinator of the Year, behind Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers and Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Capers beat Zimmer by one vote, 14-13, while Williams garnered nine votes.
