“Burlesque” brings to the screen everything one would expect from a musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera — a cheesy, campy and completely extravagant study in shallow theatrics. The racy song-and-dance numbers are a treat for the eyes and ears, but are outweighed by weak writing riddled with lines so bad they seem like unintentional non sequiturs. The acting is equally reprehensible, save for Stanley Tucci, who delivers the film’s only consistent performance as Cher’s best friend. Die-hard fans of Cher and Aguilera are likely to enjoy this diva-heavy spectacle, but any fans of quality filmmaking should stay away.
