St. Augustine High School offensive tackle Jonah Austin committed to LSU on Saturday, according to TigerSportsDigest.com.
Austin, a Scout.com three-star prospect, has been a Houston commitment since July, but he made the switch official Saturday after a visit to Baton Rouge.
The Tigers offered the offensive tackle a scholarship Dec. 13.
The 6-foot-5-inch, 315-pound recruit became the 18th member of LSU’s 2011 recruiting class and the second Purple Knight to pledge.
Scout three-star offensive guard Trai Turner committed to the Tigers in May.
Austin and Turner have led the way for St. Augustine freshman sensation running back Leonard Fournette this season, who also has an LSU offer.
LSU freshman cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, another St. Augustine alumnus, broke onto the college football scene in his first season with 50 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception.
Mathieu was chosen to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team and the Rivals.com freshman All-American team.
