Santa pictures and free snacks and holiday crafts, oh my!
Louisiana State University hosted its 30th annual LSU Spectacular for children, families, students and faculty in the University’s Student Union.
From 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 3rd, numerous activities took place in and outside of the Student Union.
The Student Activities Board treated guests to holiday karaoke in the Live Oak Lounge letting visitors perform their favorite holiday tunes.
LSU Staff Senate has Holiday on Campus that consists of holiday-themed arts and crafts such as creating ornaments and gingerbread cookies; free pizza, cookies and hot cocoa; face painting; pictures with Santa and Mrs.Claus and a visit from Mr.Snowman.
The line to see Santa was filled with excited children ready to tell Santa what they hope to find under their Christmas tree this year. As the children patiently waited to St. Nick, Louisiana State University cheerleaders and ambitious helped entertain the eager youngsters.
Some volunteers for Holiday on campus were School of Rock, auxiliary Services marketing street team, LGBTQ + faculty and staff Caucus, Top Golf, LSU early childhood education laboratory preschool, Sniggles & Giggles Kids Salon, Campus Federal and the police department. They all put in efforts to give the children holiday fun.
LSU campus life put on the lighting of the tree in Free Speech Plaza with CC’s hot cocoa and coffee to keep spectators warm. Lastly, as students approach finals week, LSU president’s late-night breakfast lasted until midnight at The 5 and 459 dining halls.
“LSU Spectacular brings the spirit of the holidays to LSU for the community,” Alex Clay, a first-year Student Ambassador, said. “Our job is to help children find their way around and make sure they are fun.”
Not only was there time for holiday festivities, but you could also give back to the Louisiana State University community by donating non-perishable food donations to the LSU Food Pantry and/or a new toy (unwrapped) to the United States Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program.
Holidays are just around the corner and the University not only hopes to give back to the community by providing fun holiday activities but to also give those in need.
