The schedule for LSU baseball’s first season at the helm of Jay Johnson is officially out. The 2022 schedule features 56 games with 24 being played against teams who participated at the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Fans only have five more months before they can witness the 2022 Tigers start the season right in Alex Box Stadium on Friday, Feb 18 against Maine in a three-game series. The season opener will be LSU baseball’s first time to play under a new coach in 15 years.
LSU will play in Baton Rouge until March 4 when they head to Houston for the annual Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, marking their fourth year of participation since 2015. The Tigers will be put to the test when they face foes Oklahoma, Texas and Baylor throughout the weekend.
The Southeastern Conference 30-game frame will officially go underway on March 18 against Texas A&M at home. The series is one of several that the Tigers will play host to. Fans will get to see the Tigers battle it out at Skip Bertman Field against Auburn, Missouri, Georgia and Ole Miss in their respective order.
LSU will be on the road for big games against Florida, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Alabama and Vanderbilt. Specific game times will be determined once television schedules and travel arrangements are finalized. SEC game dates are subject to change depending on the broadcasting schedule.
Preparation for the season is already in progress. The Tigers have engaged in conditioning drills and individual workouts as they prepare for official practice to start on Friday, Oct 8.
Their first exhibition game will be on Sunday, Nov. 7 against UNO. The team will follow with one more versus UL-Lafayette on Sunday, Nov. 14 before official play in the spring. Both exhibitions will be at Alex Box Stadium and open for fan attendance.
Fans interested in season tickets can now register to join a request list. The deadline to sign up for season ticket requests is September 30.
