Tailgating was the heart of football season, but coronavirus made it impossible to safely tailgate on campus. Pointe-Marie saw this problem and decided to bring the tailgate experience to their acre of land.
Football on Pointe at 14200 River Road gives LSU fans a safe tailgating experience with friends and family. Games are shown on a 25-foot screen where guests can see the screen 400 feet away.
Food trucks, live music and a DJ are also at the events. Football on Pointe had Blouin’s Cafe and Walk-On’s to offer food and drinks to guests in the past.
Before going to the event, guests’ temperatures are checked. There are creative reminders all over to promote social distancing, and tents are spread out by eight feet.
“Once everyone found out tailgating was basically over this year, it was easy for Pointe-Marie to look at the acre of space, the amenities and say that we can do a viewing party here,” said Amy Dighton owner of Clover Creative Agency.
Guests can either sit on the acre of land with lawn chairs, or they can rent out tents. The VIP tents feature luxury outdoor seating, high top tables, catered Walk-On’s food, an ice chest and fan. If you want to rent a tent, contact Pointe-Marie at [email protected].
The viewing party is limited to 150 guests. Wristbands must be picked up at the Discovery Center in Pointe-Marie before game day if you’re ordering wristbands on Eventbrite. This is also located on 14200 River Road.
There are still openings for the Oct. 17 game against the Florida Gators. The admission fee is $25, and guests can pay at the gate or online here.
