The Tigers took on the Tulane Green Wave Wednesday night, and unlike their past four match-ups, the Tigers came out on top.
“Coming off of an emotional SEC series and getting ready for our first road trip tomorrow, I was very concerned that their focus would not be on the game tonight,” Head Coach Paul Mainieri said. “For the first few innings there, we were kind of sleep walking, but all of a sudden we started to swing the bats a little bit with some clutch hits.”
Sophomore Zach Watson had a stellar performance hitting 3-3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 2 stolen bases, helping the Tigers beat Tulane 10-4.
“I’ve really been seeing the ball good,” Watson said. “I’m seeing curveballs, I’m seeing fastballs, I know as soon as it comes out of his hand what it’s going to be. I’ve learned my strike-zone a lot more than I did last year, and just knowing what’s going to be a strike and what’s not going to be a strike as been a big key this year.”
The Tigers will be heading to Nashville this weekend to face their second SEC opponent of the season, Vanderbilt.
