The University has rescinded the LSU chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity’s registration and cannot reinstate the chapter until 2033 at the earliest, according to a press release from Associate Dean of Students Jonathan Sanders.
The decision by the University to remove the chapter means neither Phi Delta Theta nor any local affiliate of the fraternity can “sponsor, cosponsor or participate in any social, intramural, athletic, or other similar activities on or off campus; solicit any new members or pledges; initiate any new members; occupy or utilize any leased University property unless and until the organization returns as a registered student organization in good standing,” according to the release.
Any unofficial or underground organizations appearing to resemble Phi Delta Theta may result in an extension. 
An LSUPD investigation into the fraternity found evidence that University pledge Maxwell Gruver was “targeted” by active members of the fraternity during a “Bible Study” drinking game during a pledge hazing event on Sept. 13, according to the arrest reports of 10 individuals.
The charter was officially removed by the national Phi Delta Theta chapter on Sept. 18, four days after Gruver died a as result of hazing by the fraternity.
