LSU sophomore ace Zack Hess earned a National Player of the Week award from Collegiate Baseball magazine for his performance against Toledo on Friday night, the organization announced Monday morning.
Hess struck out 13 batters while allowing one run in seven innings of work. The 13 strikeouts are the most by an LSU pitcher since the 2015 season when former Tiger Alex Lange struck out 13 batters against Kentucky.
In his three starts this season, Hess has thrown 25 strikeouts while holding opposing teams to a .267 batting average.
