Louisiana is as unique a state as they come and, as the Capital City, Baton Rouge is home to its fair share of extraordinary musicians, artists and creatives. With all that talent in one city, Baton Rougeans have no choice but to celebrate.
LEGACY has scoured the city to compile a calendar of unique events, festivals and celebrations, held throughout the year, that will showcase the best that Baton Rouge has to offer.
March 24, 2018
The eight annual fundraiser, Dancin’ in the Streets, which is put on by the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater, promises to be a fun-filled event with good tunes and great food.
“Fundraisers such as Dancin’ in the Streets allow the company to continue to be a force to bring very high quality ballet to the stage in our city,” organizer Christine Perkins said.
Tickets are available for sale for $55 in advance until 4 p.m. on March 23. Tickets at the door are $65. The three-hour event will feature jazz band, Phat Hat, as well as food from local vendors.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hosts their annual Pints for a Purpose fundraiser on Sunday, March 25. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. and carry on into the night. Join Baton Rouge in raising money for awareness and research of blood cancers.
The theme for this year is the ‘90s, so break out your scrunchies and Kid n’ Play attire to share a beer with your friends for a cause. Tickets are $25 for two beers and a food voucher or $50 for all you can drink beer, food and a special event pint glass.
April 7-8, 2018
The Arts Council of Baton Rouge hosts its annual Ebb & Flow Festival in downtown Baton Rouge. The festival will be equipped with food vendors scattered along the streets of the riverfront, along with three music stages for both Saturday and Sunday.
Take your friends and family out for a day of sunshine and sounds. The festival serves as a kicking off point for the region’s famed festival season— you don’t want to miss it!
April 13-14
To close out its spring season, the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater will perform the classic children’s story, “Cinderella.” Tickets are available to purchase on Ticketmaster. The performance features two guest ballerinas from the Colorado Ballet who, alongside BRBT’s own, will bring the story of Cinderella alive for two nights.
April 19-22
For the third year in a row, the Louisiana International Film Festival, held at Cinemark Perkins Rowe, will be bringing the work of indigenous filmmakers and musicians alike to the big screen.
Tickets for students are available for $25, general passes are $125 and VIP passes are $1000. Tickets can be bought at www.lifilmfest.org.

Designed to celebrate musicians and artists in the Capital City area, the Third Street Songwriter’s Festival is open to the public and invites an eclectic crowd.
For three days, the stage will be set for musicians to share their songs with the public. Enjoy food and tunes while enjoying the great outdoors. Tickets for the Songwriter Showcase on Saturday, April 21 are available for $40, however Friday and Saturday are free. Many artists have gotten their start here— perhaps you’ll witness the next big thing!

The Mid City Merchants 15th Annual Spring Art Hop will take over the neighborhood the second weekend in May.
The festival is free and open to the public. With tons of local makers, merchants and craftspeople, you’re sure to find something to take home with you.

Southeast Louisiana’s annual Bayou Country Superfest will be held in the Mercedes- Benz Stadium in New Orleans over Memorial Day weekend. Previously held in Baton Rouge, the Superfest has moved to a larger venue in New Orleans, but will still be kicking just as hard.
Tickets can be found on the Bayou Country Superfest website, and hotel accommodations can be made there as well. Put on your boots and make the short trip to the Superdome for one of the largest country music showcases around.

For a fun-filled day of food, music and vendors, head downtown to the riverfront. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to claim your spot on the green early and unwind from the long day while taking in a fireworks display that is second to none.
The view of the fireworks over the Mississippi River is a sight to see and spectacular for Baton Rougeans of any age. The U.S.S. Kidd’s 4th of July Spectacular is free and open to the public.
