It’s been a season of career highs for LSU pitchers and tonight was Cam Sanders turn. The LSU junior tied his career high with 8 strikeouts in just five innings to the lead the Tigers to a Tuesday night win.
“I thought Cam Sanders was outstanding, as was Todd Peterson. Both those guys needed really good, dominating outings to continue to build their confidence. We’re going to need both of them, and they both threw the ball extremely hard. Cam had his good curve ball again. I just thought both of those guys were the story of the game for us tonight,” LSU Head Coach Paul Mainieri said on the Tigers’ pitcher.
“It felt really good. I felt like I definitely had my stuff tonight. I felt really locked in, and I kind of felt like, after the last three performances, I really needed to go out and establish who I am. I think I’m getting there,” Peterson said of his performance.
Center fielder Zach Watson also made his return for the Tigers, going 3-of-5 with a double and an RBI along with three stolen bases.
LSU goes on the road for another interstate match-up when they play the Ragin’ Cajuns in Lafayette Wednesday.
