First Lady of Louisiana Donna Edwards will give the commencement address at the LSU Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College commencement ceremony on Thursday May 10 at 1 p.m, according to a University press release.
Edwards graduated in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, according to the press release. Edwards worked in business before she became a certified teacher. She taught music for eight years in the Amite public school system.
“The First Lady is an educator in every sense of the word,” Ogden Honors Dean Jonathan Earle said in the press release. “I’m delighted our graduates and their families will be able to hear and meet her on their big day.”
During her time as First Lady, Edwards has created the Louisiana First Foundation, the No Kid Hungry Louisiana Campaign and Breakfast Challenge, and Bandit’s Book Challenge, according to the press release.
The Ogden Honors College commencement ceremony will be held at the Claude L. Shaver Theatre in the Music and Dramatic Arts Building, the press release said.
