New estimates show the size of Louisiana’s budget shortfall has decreased to around 648 million dollars.
The budget gap previously had been pegged at 994 million dollars but changes tied to the impact of the federal tax overhaul decreased the hole.
Still, lawmakers are struggling to craft next spending plans to cut those 648 million dollars to balance the budget, or raise additional revenue to operate.
