LSU vice president and provost Richard Koubek will be leaving his position to serve as president of Michigan Technological University, according to a press release from Michigan Tech.
“It has been an honor to serve the LSU faculty, staff, students and aulmni as dean and provost,” Koubek said in a statement. “Louisiana State University is a special place, upon whom the very future of Louisiana rests. Being part of that mission has been both humbling and inspiring.” 
Koubek has been at the University since 2009. Prior to that, he served in high-ranking positions at the engineering departments at Wright State, Penn State and Purdue, according to his biography on the University website.
Koubek’s tenure as president of Michigan Tech will begin July 1. 
“It’s been a pleasure working closely with Rick Koubek, firstly during his time as dean of our College of Engineering and then as provost over the last few years,” said LSU President F. King Alexander. “He has done an outstanding job in helping to lead our campus, with specific highlights being the ‘Breaking New Ground’ campaign for the expansion and renovation of Patrick F. Taylor Hall and the development and launch of the LSU Strategic Plan 2025. We will miss him greatly and wish him the best of luck.”
