The House overwhelmingly backed two resolutions Monday to study the impacts of further limiting smoking in Louisiana.
House Resolution 107 wants the Louisiana Department of Health to study what would happen by increasing the legal age for buying a pack of cigarettes from 18 to 21 years of age. The House voted 92 to 1 on that request.
House Resolution 109 asked LDH to health-related and tax-related implications of electronic cigarettes and other vapor products. That resolution was approved on a 89-0 vote.
House resolutions are an expression of the 105 representatives and don’t carry the weight of law. Both were sponsored by Rep. Frank Hoffmann, the West Monroe Republican who chairs the House Health & Welfare committee.
