LSU Beach Volleyball sophomores Claire Coppola and Kristen Nuss won a semifinals match against the Cal Poly Mustangs’ to advance to the finals of the USA Volleyball College Beach Championship at 3 PM in Hermosa Beach, California.
Coppola and Nuss, who were chosen as the CCSA pair of the year, won in two sets with a 23-21 and 21-18 win to beat the pair of Torrey Van Winden and Emily Sonny from Cal Poly.
Coppola and Nuss will face Florida State seniors Hailey Luke and Katie Norton, who helped lead Florida State to an NCAA championship game and a CCSA championship win over LSU.
The College Beach Championship differs from the NCAA championship as it is for a national championship between individual pairs instead of the whole team.
The Finals will be broadcast on NBC Sports at 3 p.m. and the winner represent the US Olympic team at the 2018 FISU World University Championship in Germany.
